0n his second solo outing, mandolinist/vocalist Adam Steffey has created a contemporary bluegrass classic filled with great picking, soulful tunes and a wealth of great vocals and arrangements. One More For The Road showcases Steffey not just as one of the most important and influential mandolinists of his generation, but as a brilliant vocalist and group leader. The opening cut, a strong instrumental penned by Steffey, merges seamlessly to the second song, a desperate, heartfelt saga of life lived in a series of barrooms, backroad cafes and bluegrass festivals. Surrounded by a superb backing cast here that includes a raft of bluegrass superstars such as Stuart Duncan, Clay Hess, Dan Tyminski, Ron Block and Ron Stewart, Steffey effortlessly crosses musical boundaries.

Just check how he winds his way from a smooth bluegrass classic Red Allen, Don't Lie To Me, to a total bluegrass rave-up on the next cut, Let Me Fall. Just when you think you have Steffey pegged as playing in one style or tempo, he serves up a thrilling change of pace that keeps the CD constantly fresh.

Bio
Adam Steffey is surely one of the most recorded mandolinists over the past 15 years or more. He is a 5 time Grammy Winner and has been voted Mandolin Player Of The Year an unprecedented 9 times by the International Bluegrass Music Association. He is an adjunct faculty member at East Tennessee State University as a mandolin instructor in the 'Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Department' and has been an instructor at a variety of workshops and camps - including the famed Mandolin Symposium held each year in California.
He has been a member of some very influential acts including Alison Krauss, The Isaacs, and Mountain Heart. Adam is currently a member of The Boxcars (www.theboxcars.com) who were recognized as the 'Emerging Artist Of The Year' in 2011 and have been awarded 'Instrumental Group Of The Year' in both 2011 and 2012 by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
He is also in demand as a session musician having recorded and/or performed with such artists as Alison Krauss, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Vince Gill, Little Big Town, Dolly Parton, The Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, Bill Frisell, Susan Ashton, Rhonda Vincent, Dan Tyminski, Ronnie Bowman, Jim Mills, Dale Ann Bradley, The Lonesome River Band, The Isaacs, Mountain Heart, Jim Mills, The Cox Family, John Bowman, and many, many more.

NEW YEAR and NEW MUSIC!!

Hello everyone and welcome to 2013!! I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that this year is the best ever for all of you. The new recording project by The Boxcars is nearly finished and we should have it available by early Spring. Check back here periodically or at www.theboxcars.com and we'll let you know as soon as it's available.


Also, I am going to be heading into the studio in early February to start work on another solo project. With this new solo recording, I'm going to explore some old-time influences that have really intrigued me over the past few years. There will be some really special guests on there that I will tell you more about in the near future. I'm excited to get in, get started on it, and look forward to posting some pictures and more information!! Stay tuned .....

Mandolin Symposium 2013

Hello Everyone! It has just been confirmed that I will be one of the instructors at The Mandolin Symposium 2013 in Santa Cruz, CA. It is an honor to be asked to be a part of this wonderful week of music and fellowship with some of the best players in the world. David Grisman and Mike Marshall host this yearly gathering devoted to the mandolin and helping players through quality instruction, history, concerts, and much more.


Having been a part of this terrific event before, I can honestly say that it is one of the premier music camps in the world. If you've ever considered taking time to attend a camp to study the mandolin, this is THE one to seriously consider! The entire staff is committed to helping you and the instruction is just outstanding. You will be surrounded by other mandolinists that are just as devoted to this wonderful instrument as you are.


It is a real honor to be included as one of the instructors for 2013 and I look forward to being in Santa Cruz next June. You can get all the information about the Symposium at www.mandolinsymposium.com

Howdy Folks!! I just wanted to drop a note and let everyone know that The Boxcars are going to be heading into the studio to begin work on our next project later this month.
